about

This is a spoken word piece.

lyrics

Today I walk amongst the living dead,
Turn on me, I’ll shoot you in the head, blow your mind,
One, three, eleven, two thousand twelve and counting.
Infected.
Corrupted.
People’s lives are stolen, young and old, salivating like greed, they are left hungry, starving for more,
Chewing at each other down to their apple cores.
Why hello there,

Can I please borrow that 12 gauge shotgun?

I see you came across an extra one.

See here, I have nothing. Raggedy, torn, and bloody,
I barely survived my girlfriend’s parents from trying to eat me alive at dinner last night.
Check me over twice, I have no bites, the pieces of my mind are still intact.
In fact I know it’s supposed to be every man for himself,
but if it’s the end of the world, the last thing you could do is help someone.
Stop being selfish for once, and lend me hand…
while you still have a hand to give.
Because unlike what most people have become now, I will never bite the hand that feeds me.

Thank you for trusting me.

So okay let’s form a team. Original with our ideas, let’s collaborate.
Let’s make up a strategy, raid the gun store, hoard groceries, and take over the mall.
C’mon, we can take ‘em all!
I see them in the distance. Ready???
They are coming closer. We can take ‘em all.
Are coming closer. C’mon let’s take ‘em all.
Coming closer, too close now. Aw shit!
Standing ground like ordered soldiers, we open fire.
But their hunger, deeper than a carnal desire, it’s like they don’t want us to succeed,
These mindless beings, envy us for feeling so alive, for having a “life” beyond what they do every day.
Which is to just… eat, eat, and eat each other up.
I feel so sorry for them, but there’s nothing we can do but just keep on shooting like ideas
No matter how much they want to eat us.
We will evade their grimy hands reaching for us,
grabbing at our ankles, wanting to pull us down,
Breaking down the barricades we’ve made, like level 5 hurricanes, everything they touch becomes dust.
But we can still survive.

Give me your hand.
We will not be like them.

We will fight hordes and hordes of them.
Even though there will always be more of them, that’s what makes us special. We’ll keep fighting.
We’ll never give up. We’ll never conform with the masses,
our passion to “live” is what drives us to survive,
Survive those who are dead inside loathing their own skin and would rather devour our flesh, ripping through our insides in hopes that they’ll find a heart blacker, and a soul much uglier, than theirs. Good luck.

If only they kept on fighting, if only they never gave up.

Yesterday, I walked amongst the living dead too.
You probably have come across them without knowing it.
About the same as the ones today,
except
the
ones
yesterday
Were only dead on the inside
not the outside… at least not yet.
